about

NARRATIONS is comprised of spoken pieces, with settings ranging from silence, bells and sparse percussion, to arrangements with organ, percussion, recorder and other sounds.

For all of my adult life I’ve written down any remembered dreams, and have over time become more attentive to getting them down in as much detail as I could recall.
A few years ago, during a particularly reflective time, I considered all the dreams I must have written down in the intervening years and wondered if I might bring them all together somehow and see if I could make anything of them - a compendium of subjective wonder tales, or a nocturnal autobiography?
Around the same time, after years of concentrating on writing songs, I had a yearning to free myself up and reacquaint myself with a more spontaneous way of making recordings; a sense that I might relocate in experience what I had naturally found in innocence.
I started a catalogue of the dreams, and revisiting them sparked the idea of using some as the central material for a recording project, which, once under way I called NARRATIONS.
